Diagnosing
Constipation

We go beyond basic history. Advanced tests like Manometry help us find the *exact* mechanical fault in your system.

Advanced Testing

Step 1

Physical Exam

Digital Rectal Exam (DRE) to check anal tone and rule out fecal impaction or tumors.

Structural

Colonoscopy

A camera exam to rule out cancer, polyps, or strictures (narrowing) inside the colon.

Motility

Colonic Transit Study

You swallow a capsule with markers. X-rays are taken days later to see how fast they move through the gut.

Function

Anorectal Manometry

A balloon test to measure pressure in the rectum. It checks if your muscles relax correctly to let stool out.

Director's Interview

What is Anorectal Manometry?

Dr. Jaya Explains

"Manometry is the gold standard for diagnosing Outlet Dysfunction. Without it, we are just guessing."

This specialized test measures the pressure of your anal sphincter muscles. It tells us if your muscles are too tight or too weak.

Why Test?

Treating the wrong type of constipation (e.g., giving fiber for Outlet Dysfunction) can make bloating and pain worse. Diagnosis is key.
